Worrying about everything What I can and can’t control ? Been told it’s okay try this and that but well nothing
First of all thank you for reaching out, I acknowledge what you are going though but Is it normal? Yes, and here is the hard science
Absolutely, undoubtedly , normal. In fact, it’s evolutionarily hardwired.
Your brain has a built-in default Mode Network. it activates whenever you aren't focused on a physical task. Its job? To predict threats, compare past failures, and simulate future disasters to keep you alive.
What’s the logic here? You are a modern human with an ancient brain🤭😂, sounds cheecky, doesn’t it? But here is the catch. That brain was built for physical threats (lion in the bush) that lasted minutes. Now, it's processing abstract, complex threats (career, relationships, health, meaning) that have no clear end. So your brain doesn't shut off because the "threats" never physically end. You are not broken; you are a victim of a biological mismatch.
Here is the logic trap. You have been trying to think your way out of thinking and here is the logical paradox: Worrying feels exactly like problem-solving.
When you worry, your brain gets a tiny hit of dopamine because it feels active. It confuses attention with control.
But here is the harsh logical truth: 99% of your worries are abstract problems with no physical object to act upon. You cannot physically "solve" a future that hasn't happened. So your brain just recycles the same data over and over, getting nowhere. It is computationally inefficient. It's like running a vehicle in parking, it burns fuel (in this case your energy) but goes zero miles.
At this point you must be wondering, SO WHAT??🤪yeah I Got you
Since you like reasoning, let's turn this into a strict, two part algorithm for your brain to follow. When a worry hits, you run this mental flow chart!
At humura therapy we shall design for you this step by step algorithm. For further discussion don’t hesitate to reach out.
